Here’s how you can transform some rhinestone trim into a necklace chain!
Here’s a fun tutorial, perfect for a fun costume night out! In this tutorial I’ll show you how to transform some rhinestone trim into a unique chain to hang bold pendants on. Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need these tools and materials to make your rhinestone necklace chain:
1: A piece of rhinestone trim, cut to your preferred necklace length.

2: Two crimp ends.

3: Two jump rings.

4: One lobster claw clasp.

5: A pendant. I used this weird one that I made from clay, plastic rhinestones, wire, paint and resin (I know… it looks really weird!)

6: Pliers. I used my cutting pliers to cut the rhinestones to length and my flat nose pliers to secure the crimps closed. You can also keep your round nose pliers handy as an extra tool for opening and closing your jump rings.

Follow these steps to make this rhinestone necklace chain:
1: Place one of the crimps over the end of the rhinestone strand.

2: Squash one side of the crimp around the rhinestone strand using your flat nose pliers.

3: Squash the other side of the crimp using the pliers, so it fits closely around the rhinestones and doesn’t move when you pull it.

4: Repeat steps 1-3 for the other end of the necklace.

5: If your pendant has a small bail (the loop at the top of the pendant), you can add it to the chain now.

6: Take one of the jump rings and add it to one side of the necklace, looping it through the end of the crimp.

7: Add the clasp to the open jump ring and close it to secure the clasp to the necklace.

8: Add the remaining jump ring to the other end of the necklace and close it.

Now your sparkly costume necklace is ready to wear! What funky pendant will you put on yours?

Sequins are giving me life lately! Here’s how to make a sequin hand harness.
Hand harnesses are so fun! Add some even more fun to this design with some shiny sequins. This design is perfect for at home parties and showing off some sparkle during Zoom cocktail hours!
You’ll need the following tools and materials to make your sequinned hand harness:
1: Pliers. I used my round nose and flat nose pliers.

2: Chain.

3: A bunch of small jump rings.

4: Two larger jump rings.

5: A lobster clasp.

6: Sequins. I used these large disc sequins that have holes at the top.

Follow these steps to make your sequinned hand harness:
1: Measure your wrist and section off enough chain to fit around it.

2: Attach a longer piece of chain to the centre of the bracelet chain. Depending on the type of chain you are doing you can attach them together by opening one of the links on the longer chain and sliding it onto a link in the centre of the bracelet. If your links don’t open I suggest using a jump ring to join your chains together.

3: Drape the longer chain across your hand and around one of your fingers, make sure it is loose enough.

4: Trim the chain to the length you just measured out and attach the end of the chain to form a finger-sized loop.

5: Attach the two larger jump rings to either end of the bracelet section and attach the lobster clasp too.

6: Now add the sequins. I added mine using the smaller jump rings, attaching them to the centre part of the hand harness.

7: Continue adding the sequins until you have the look you want.

Now your sequinned hand harness is finished and ready to wear! Perfect for virtual cocktail hour.

How to transform an old ring into a pendant.

If you are like me you might have some old costume jewelry lying around that isn’t really your style any more. Instead of throwing it away here’s a way that you can transform an old ring into a wearable pendant.
You will need the following tools and materials to make your pendant:
1: An old ring. I used this ring with a soldered on ring shank.

2: Flat nose pliers for pulling the ring apart.

3: A glue on bail.

4: Araldite glue.

5: A skewer.

6: Scrap paper.

8: A necklace chain.

Follow these steps to transform your old ring into a necklace pendant:
1: Remove the ring shank from the top of the ring, gently pulling it off with your flat nose pliers.

2: If there is excess metal use a file to remove it. I didn’t have to do this for this project.
3: Squeeze out the Araldite glue in equal parts onto the scrap paper.

2: Mix the glue using the skewer.

3: Add the glue to the bail and the back of the ring.

4: Place the bail onto the glued part of the ring and set aside to dry.

5: Add the dry pendant to the necklace to finish it off!

Now your new pendant is ready to wear! Such an easy way to upcycle old jewelry.
