How to make a pair of triangle statement earrings!
Here’s how to make a cute pair of statement earrings, these are such a fun design that pack a bold punch with their size and colours. Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need these tools and materials to make these earrings:
1: Eight pieces of wire all the same length. I used 0.8mm copper wire.

Here’s a pre-made eye pin option if you don’t feel like making them yourself: https://tidd.ly/3WCad6D
2: Four statement beads. I used these polymer clay beads I made. Here’s a polymer clay bead tutorial for you.

3: Some accent beads. I used these timber beads.

4: A pair of earring hooks. If you don’t have any, you can find tutorials that show you how to make your own here, here and here.

5: Some flat nose pliers and round nose pliers. You will also need your cutting pliers if you are not using pre-made eye pins.

Follow these steps to make your amazing triangle statement earrings:
1: Bend the end of each wire to form a right angle using the flat nose pliers.

2: Loop the end of each wire using round nose pliers.

3: Add beads to two of the wires, these will form the bottom of your triangles. I added some statement beads to each of these wires.

4: Bend the ends of the beaded wires to form another right angle.

5: Loop the end of the wire using the round nose pliers. This will secure the beads in place.

6: Repeat steps 3-5 for two more of the pins, these will be used to attach the triangles to the earring hooks.

7: Add your accent beads to the four remaining wires to create four solid beaded pins, secure the beads in place as you did in steps 4 and 5.

8: Now it is time to start assembling your earrings, Add one of the solid beaded wires to one of the accent beaded wires.

9: Add a second solid beaded wire to the first accent beaded wire, so you have one statement beaded wire with two solid beaded wires attached.
10: Add a second statement beaded wire to the earring, attaching each end to each of the solid beaded wires to form a triangle shape.

11: Repeat steps 8 to 10 for the second earring.

12: Attach each of the earring hooks to the triangle forms. Once both earring hooks are attached your earrings are finished and ready to wear out! How will you style yours?

Here are the finished earrings!

Tips to elevate your handmade pieces!
I love jewelry, I love looking at it, I love making it, and I love wearing it. But there are some parts of jewelry that I don’t love. I can’t stand it when a piece is uncomfortable and scratchy to wear, and I also can’t stand poorly constructed jewelry that looks like it will fall apart after two wears, so I thought it would be fun to share with you some things to look out for so that you always make strong, comfortable jewels that you will enjoy for years to come.
Here are my tips for making long-lasting, professional looking and comfortable jewelry:
1: Make sure you tuck away the ends of the tiger-tail wire. I usually achieve this by running the wire through a few of the beads at each end of my beaded designs so that it doesn’t poke out. You can also use a crimp cover which covers any sharp ends of the wire. You can see some examples below.

Look at the ends of this beaded strand, the ends of the wire are hidden under the beads. Follow the tutorial for this necklace here.
The crimp cover on this earring charm protects you from being scratched by the wire. Tutorial for these earrings here. 2: Avoid using elastic in your designs. Elastic might be easy to put on and take off (and in some cases, is the only appropriate option in terms of accessibility). Unfortunately, this accessibility comes with a trade off, elastic tends to wear out quickly, and you can find your beautiful bracelet scattered all over the floor at the most inopportune moment. I suggest making your beaded jewels with nylon beading thread or tiger-tail wire for a longer life span. I’ve got a post about the pros and cons of different beading materials here.

Here’s a bracelet I found a while ago that was made from elastic. Unfortunately it had broken and been lost to its original owner!
I’m yet to experience any of my tiger-tail beaded pieces breaking on me, I suggest choosing it if you are looking for durability in your designs. Full tutorial here. 3: Pull your wire tight at each end of your beaded pieces. I’ve noticed with the trend towards beaded jewelry in recent years, beaded tiger-tail necklaces are being sold with large loops at each end. This loose loop can catch on things and lead to breakages. I also personally think it looks sloppy and makes your work seem less polished.

I think this anklet with tightly finished ends looks a lot neater than a loosely looped wire. You can follow the steps to make your own anklet here.
Don’t leave big loops like this on your jewelry pieces, they can catch on things and don’t look as polished. 4: Try to use precious metals! I spent a long time making jewelry using findings made from base metals. While these materials are cheaper and great for when you’re starting out, I think investing in fine metals such as sterling silver, is a great way to elevate your designs and make them seem more polished and professional.

A sterling silver clasp elevates this beaded bracelet. You can see the tutorial for this bracelet here.
Sterling silver wire goes a long way! Some silver wire can be transformed into many sleek, minimalist jewellery designs with minimal effort. Tutorial to make these here. Here are some sterling silver materials you can buy and use in your designs:
5: I don’t always follow my own advice, but when you are making beaded pieces with pearls, it can pay to spend some extra time knotting your beading thread between each pearl. This technique not only protects the pearls, it also stops you from losing them all in the case of a breakage! I have’t made a pearl knotting tutorial yet, but I think there will be one on the way soon so keep an eye out.

This pearl bracelet features individually knotted pearls. So there you have it, a few tips and tricks to elevate your jewelry making to that next level! Please note that this post contains affiliate links.

How to make a beaded necklace with a cool knot detail!
This necklace is simple but super cute! It is a twist on a basic tiger-tail beaded necklace, but instead of a single strand, the necklace has a loose knot in the middle for added interest. This is a simple but high-impact design that you can whip up in an afternoon. Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need the following tools and materials to make your necklace:
1: Some tiger tail wire, cut a length long enough to fit loosely around your neck plus an extra 20cm (7.8 inches).

2: Four small crimp beads.

3: A toggle clasp.

4: Two small jump rings.

5: Your set of pliers including cutting pliers, round nose and flat nose pliers.

6: A selection of beads. I used some timber beads and some glass evil eye-style beads.

Evil eye beads here:
Timber beads here:
Follow these steps to make your beaded knot detail necklace.
1: Add two crimp beads and a jump ring to the end of the tiger tail wire.

4: Fold the end of the wire around the jump ring and back through the crimp beads.

5: Squash the crimp beads using the flat nose pliers.

6: Add beads to the wire in your choice of pattern. Continue adding until you have a length you like (remember to make it a bit longer than usual because the knot will reduce the length a little).

7: Once you have your necklace fully beaded, add the second set of crimp beads and the remaining jump ring to the end of the wire.

8: Loop the end of the wire around the jump ring and back through the crimps and the first few beads at the end of the necklace.
9: Pull the wire tight.

10: Squash the crimp beads using the flat nose pliers.

11: Trim the excess wire using the cutting pliers.

12: Carefully tie a knot in the beaded strand, paying attention to get it close to the middle and being careful to not pull too tightly, you want the knot to be quite open.

13: Attach the clasp to either end of the necklace using the jump rings. Make sure to close the jump rings closely so that the clasps stay in place.

Now your necklace is finished and ready to wear! What funky beads will you use to make yours?

You’ll need these tools and materials to make these earrings:
1: Two pieces of tiger tail wire about 20cm long.

2: Two crimp beads.

3: Two crimp cover ends.

4: A pair of earring hooks.

6: Beads. I used some resin cube beads, some handmade polymer clay beads (tutorial for these here), and some timber beads.

Follow these steps to make your statement earrings:
1: Add one of the cube beads to the middle of the wire.

2: Add the smaller timber beads either side of the cube bead, I added 10 to each side, but you can add more or less depending on the size of the beads you are using. You’ll want to get a circle about 2.5cm in diameter.

3: Add one of the polymer clay beads to one side of the wire.

4: Thread the other side of the wire through the polymer clay bead to create a loop.

5: Add another four beads to each end of the wire.

6: Add the crimp cover to the two wires held together.
7: Keeping the crimp cover open, add a crimp bead to the wire.
8: Squash the crimp bead using flat nose pliers.

9: Trim the excess wire.

10: Squash the crimp cover around the crimp bead using the flat nose pliers.

11: Use the wire at the end of the crimp cover to create a loop, thread on an earring hook and close it to secure the earring to the beaded design.

12: Repeat steps 1-11 for the second earring.

Now your beaded statement earrings are complete and ready to wear!

Here’s how to make a braided mask chain with beaded details!
If you’re like me, masks have become a long-term part of life. It can be annoying to keep track of your mask as you take it on and off during the day, so here’s piece you can make that helps you keep track of your mask! This mask chain features braid with beaded details for a cool, hippie look! Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need the following tools and materials to make your braided mask chain with bead details:
1: Scissors

2: Three pieces of hemp cord. I cut mine to be about a 1m long but didn’t use all of it, so I suggest cutting a bit shorter.

3: Beads with holes large enough to fit the cord. I used these painted red timber beads.

4: Two large lobster clasps.

5: Super glue

Follow these steps to make your braided bead mask chain.
1: Thread the three pieces of cord through the end of one of the lobster clasps.
2: Tie a knot to secure the clasp.

3: Tie a second knot for extra security and trim the excess.

4: Start braiding the cord. It can be useful to clip the end of the piece to something so that you can pull the strings taught and make braiding easier.

5: Once you have braided a small section, approx. 4cm, add one of the beads to the centre cord.

6: Continue braiding, wrapping the next two strings around the bead and then continue braiding as usual.

7: Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the next bead and then the rest of the chain until it is the length you like.
8: Add the second clasp to the other end of the chain and knot it to secure it in place.

9: Knot the end again and trim the cord.
10: Add a dab of superglue to each end of the beaded chain and set it aside to dry.

Now your mask chain is finished and ready to use!

How to make a beaded phone strap using a piece of string!
Beaded phone straps are a bit of a trend right now, and here’s a down and dirty way to make one! Really all you need is some string and some beads. I added a large lobster clasp as well, you can use it to attach the strap to your phone or to add some keys or other important charms to your design! Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You will need these tools and materials to make your own beaded phone strap:
1: A piece of string. I cut mine to be about 40cm long but I suggest going longer, maybe 50-60cm.

2: A selection of beads. Make sure they have holes big enough to fit over the string. I used a mix of handmade polymer clay beads, glass beads, resin beads, timber beads and plastic beads.

3: A large lobster clasp.

4: A pair of scissors for cutting and trimming your string.

Follow these steps to make your phone strap:
1: Fold the string in half.

2: Take the folded end and create a knot, I made mine a little small, I suggest creating the knot about 8-10cm down the string. After you pull the knot tight you will have a loop and two separate strings.

3: Begin adding beads to one of the strings until you have most of the string beaded.

4: Add beads to the other side, beading the second string to the same length as the first.

5: Tie the ends of each string together, adding the lobster clasp before securing the knot.

6: Add an accent bead to one of the tails of the loop and knot the end to secure the bead in place.

7: Repeat step 6 for the second tail of the beaded phone strap.

Now your phone strap is finished! This is a bit of a down and dirty DIY but the results are pretty cute and you can personalise it to your liking!

How to make a bracelet that combines leather and beads into one piece!
This tutorial is a bit of a recycling piece. I used some scrap leather combined with some beads I recycled from an old necklace to construct something new. You’ll need these tools and materials to make your leather and bead bracelet:
1: A piece of leather, I used this scrap piece of leather that was about 1cm wide and 9cm long. If you don’t have any scrap leather you could also use some leftover ribbon or cord.

2: Some pliers. I used my flat nose pliers and round nose pliers for this piece.

3: A bunch of eye pins. The number you will need will vary depending on the length of your bracelet and your piece of leather.

4: Two flat crimp ends.

5: Some beads. I used these timber beads I recycled from an old necklace.

6: Two jump rings.

7: A lobster clasp. I used this large one.

Follow these steps to make your own leather and bead bracelet:
1: Take your piece of leather and place one of the crimp ends on one end. Be careful to line up the edges.

2: Squash the crimp using the flat nose pliers.

3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other end of the leather, attaching the other crimp.

4: Set the piece of leather aside.
5: Take one of the eye pins and add a bead.

6: Bend the pin to form an angle.
7: Use the round nose pliers to create a loop at the top of the pin, securing the beads in place.

8: Repeat steps 1-7 for another bead, before closing the loop, slide it onto the first charm you made. Close it to secure the charms together.

9: Repeat steps 1-8 for another bead.

10: Attach the small chain you made to one end of the piece of leather, this will help you keep track of the overall bracelet length.

11: Keep adding beads to the chain until your bracelet is long enough to fit around your wrist.

12: Attach the lobster clasp to the beaded end of the bracelet using one of the jump rings.

13: Attach the other jump ring to the other side of the bracelet to finish it off.

Now your bracelet is finished! How will you wear yours?
