Here’s how you can make your own sterling silver earring hooks that are embellished with gorgeous beads!
I love using pre-made earring hooks, but sometimes I want to add some additional luxe to my earring designs, so I make my own one-of-a-kind earring hooks that are embellished with some special beads. Follow along if you want to learn how to make your own, unique earring hooks out of sterling silver wire. Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need the following tools and materials to make this pair of earring hooks:
1: Two pieces of sterling silver wire, about 0.8mm in diameter and 7cm long each. (cut the wire with your cutting pliers).

2: A pair of parallel flat nose pliers, or ordinary flat nose pliers. The parallel pliers makes it easier to grip both earrings at once when you are shaping them.

3: A file and some sandpaper.

Find files here:
Find sandpaper here:
4: Two beads. I used some agate gemstone beads.

5: A pair of round flat pliers for forming the loop at the end of the earring hooks. It is also handy to keep your round nose pliers around as well.

Follow these steps to make your own bespoke earring hooks featuring a beaded embellishment:
1: File the ends of the wires so they are no longer sharp, use the sandpaper afterwards to soften the ends.

2: Use the round flat nose pliers or flat nose pliers to bend the end of each piece of wire to form an angle.

3: Create a loop using the bent part of the wire as a guide. You want to make a loop at the end of each piece of wire.

4: Add a bead to each of the wires

5: Grip each wire between the mouth of the parallel flat nose pliers and bend them at the same points, so they sit at equal lengths. Bending the wire will mean that the bead won’t come off (but be warned, seed bead sized beads can still slide around the corners of this design, the bigger the bead, the less likely it is to fall off your earring hook).

6: Once you have bent your earrings, you can adjust them slightly to form the square top to your liking using your fingers and pliers.
Now your earring hooks are done! They’re ready for some cute dangly charms!

Here’s what they look like with some brass triangle charms on them.

And here are some similar designs I have made using this earring hook technique. These ones feature patinated copper charms, you can learn to patina copper here.

Here’s how to make a special pair of earrings using earring findings and beaded thread…
Here are some fun earrings you can construct at home! This is a great way to use the pieces of copper or brass that you created patina on using our salt and vinegar patina tutorials as well as some of your fave beads. Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need these tools and materials to make these earrings:

4: Beads. I used these purple and blue glass seed beads.

5: Jump rings. I used two copper jump rings.

6: Scissors.

7: Super glue.

8: Pliers.

Follow these steps to make your cute pair of earrings:
1: Close both of the jump rings using your pliers.
2: Fold one of the pieces of thread in half and loop it around the jump ring.

3: Tie some additional knots to secure the thread to the jump ring.

4: Pull the thread through the loop at the bottom of the needle.

5: Begin adding beads to the string in your chosen pattern.

6: Continue adding beads until you have a length you like, I made mine about 7cm long.

7: Tie a knot at the end of the thread to secure the beads onto the thread.

8: Tie the end of the thread onto the jump ring to form a loop, thread it through the jump ring and tie a couple of knots to secure it.

9: Trim the excess thread using scissors.

10: Add a dab of superglue to both knots to secure them.

11: Repeat steps 2-10 for the second beaded loop.

12: Open the jump rings and thread them through the earring findings. Close the jump rings using your pliers to secure them in place.

These earrings are pretty fun! They are constructed from eye pins to form some dynamic triangle charms, and as an added bonus, there’s a cute gold-tone and enamel strawberry charm dangling from the bottom of each earring. This pair of triangle strawberry earrings is perfect for framing your face with some fun colour and they’re pretty simple to make.
Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
Here are the tools and materials you’ll need to make your earrings:
1: Pliers. I used my round nose and flat nose pliers for this design. Keep your cutting pliers on hand just in case!

2: Twelve (12) eye pins. I used gold-tone ones.

4: Six (6) jump rings. I used gold-tone to match my eye pins and other findings.

5: Two (2) strawberry charms.

6: Two (2) post earring findings.

Now here are all the steps to follow to make your triangle and strawberry dangle earrings:
1: Add beads to one of the eye pins. Leave approximately 0.8-1cm without beads, this is the section that you will bend into a loop.

2: Using round nose pliers, bend the pin to form an angle.

3: Bend the top of the wire around the barrel of the round nose pliers to create a loop. Now the beads are secured onto the pin.

4: Repeat steps 1-3 for the remaining eye pins.

5: Now you have all your eye pins beaded you can begin attaching them together to form your triangles.

6: Attach one eye pin to another to form a mini-chain.

7: Attach another eye pin to the first two.
8: Now attach the loose end of the first eye pin to the end of the last eye pin to form a triangle shape. Close the loops to secure the eye pins together.

9: Repeat steps 6 to 8 for the other eye pins so that you have four triangles.

10: Use one of the jump rings to attach two of the triangles together.

11: Attach a strawberry charm to the bottom of the pair of triangles using another jump ring.

How to make cute knotted earrings! These are adorable.
These beaded knot earrings are really pretty! Use any beads you like to form a delightful beaded knot that dangles from each ear. This tutorial is really cool.
You’ll need these tools and materials to make your beaded knot earrings:
1: Pliers. You’ll need your cutting pliers, round nose pliers and flat nose pliers.

2: Two pieces of tigertail wire, a longer wire will give you a tighter knot. I made my pieces approximately 13cm long.

3: Eight crimp beads.

4: Four smaller jump rings.

5: Two larger jump rings.

6: Two earring posts with charm connectors on the bottom.

7: Beads. I used these mixed glass beads.

Follow these steps to make your knot earrings:
1: Add two crimp beads to one end of one of the pieces of tiger tail wire.

2: Add a jump ring to the end of the wire.
3: Fold the end of the wire around the jump ring and through the crimp beads.

4: Squash the crimp beads using the flat nose pliers to secure the end.

5: Add the beads to the wire.

6: Once you have reached the length you like, add another pair of crimp beads and another jump ring to the end of the wire.
7: Loop the end of the wire around the jump ring and back through the crimps and first couple of beads on the end of the wire.
8: Pull the wire tight and squash the crimps to secure the beads.
9: Trim the excess wire.

10: Repeat steps 1-10 for the second wire.

11: Loosely knot both the wires. Don’t try to pull it really tight, you’ll bend the wire out of shape.

12: Attach the ends of the wires together using the two larger jump rings.

13: Attach each of the knots to the earring posts using the same jump rings you used to secure the ends of the knots together.

Now your earrings are finished and ready to wear. Lightweight and beautiful.

These earrings have not one, not two… but three hoops! Here’s how to make them.
Do you love it when your earrings to do the most? These earrings are a true hoop statement, made with three hoops that nest into each other. I think these are so cute!
Please note that this tutorial contains affiliate links.
You’ll need the following tools and materials to make your triple hoop earrings:
1: Six pieces of wire in three different lengths (two pieces of each length). The longest piece of wire will determine the size of the rest of the hoops. I used copper wire.

2: Six small jump rings.

3: A pair of earring hooks.

4: Beads of your choice. I used six red timber beads and some yellow glass e-beads.

Follow these steps to make your triple hoop earrings:
1: Create a loop at one of the ends of the long wires using your round nose pliers. Do this by creating a right angle first and then looping that small end of the wire around the barrel of your pliers.

2: Add beads to the wire in your chosen pattern. I beaded mine primarily with the yellow beads, placing a red timber bead in the centre. You can estimate the centre of the wire by forming it into a rough circle shape.

3: Once the wire is beaded, with 1cm left bare, create another loop at the end of the wire. This will secure the beads in place. Open the end loop up a bit and slide it into the loop you made at the start, close it to secure the ends together and form the circle shape.

4: Repeat steps 1-3 for the rest of the wires to create six circles.

5: Take one of the biggest circles and one of the medium circles. Attach them together using one of the jump rings. Slide the jump ring through the loops at the top of each hoop and close it to secure them together.

6: Repeat step 5 to attach the smallest hoop to the middle hoop so that you have a stack of three hoops attached together.

7: Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the second set of hoops.

8: Attach an earring hook to both sets of hoops to finish them off.

Now your cute triple hoops are finished and ready to wear!
